The Muslim, when he fasts, proves his ability to overcome needs and desires

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and second questions of Fatwa No. ( 9395 )
Q1, 2: Does the Muslim, when he fasts, prove his ability to overcome needs and desires ? How is that? And how does the Muslim see the world in its true reality?
A: 1, 2: Allah the Exalted made fasting the month of Ramadan obligatory for the benefit of His servants, to refine their souls, and to elevate them to human perfection. In
fasting, one abstains from the things that break the fast, such as food, drink, and others. This trains the soul to act against its desires and helps it overcome the desires that are prohibited during fasting. It refines the soul to adopt noble morals. When a servant’s knowledge of his religion and of what Allah has prepared for the believing servants in the Hereafter becomes strong, and he holds firmly to his religion, he knows the insignificance of this world and its status in the sight of Allah, and that it does not weigh with Him, the Exalted, as much as the wing of a mosquito, as stated in the noble hadith narrated by al-Tirmidhi and Ibn Majah . Its value is only great for the one who spends his life in obedience to Allah and takes it as a mount to the Hereafter. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
