The ruling on fasting on the Day of 'Arafah for the pilgrim

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: What is the ruling for one who fasts on the Day of 'Arafah while he is a pilgrim? And if the Day of 'Arafah falls on a Friday, what does that mean?

Answer: The pilgrim is not required to fast on the Day of 'Arafah, and if he does fast, he is to be feared of sin; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade fasting on the Day of 'Arafah at 'Arafah, and he did not fast. So the pilgrim does not fast, and if he intentionally fasts while knowing the prohibition, he is to be feared of sin; because the original ruling of a prohibition is that it is forbidden.
