Q3: What is the ruling on one who testifies that there is no god but Allah, establishes the prayer, but does not pay zakah, and never accepts it? What is his status in Islam if he dies? Is the funeral prayer performed for him or not?
A3: Zakah is a pillar of Islam. Whoever abandons it by denying its obligation, after its ruling has been made clear to him, if he persists, he is a disbeliever. The funeral prayer is not performed for him, and he is not buried in the Muslim cemeteries. However, if he abandons it out of stinginess while believing in its obligation, he is a sinner committing a major sin and an open sinner, but he is not a disbeliever. He is washed and the funeral prayer is performed for him if he dies in this state, and his affair is left to Allah on the Day of Resurrection.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
