The questioner : He says:The questioner : Your Eminence, this is a woman who is approximately ninety years old. An incident occurred to her fifty years ago in which she went out to attend to a need of hers and left her daughter, who was approximately two years old, in the house with her sisters. When she returned home, she did not find the girl, so she went to look for her and found that she had died of thirst. Is there an expiation on this woman? And if there is an expiation on her, to whom is the blood money paid?

The Shaykh : It appears that there is nothing on her, because it is customary for a woman to go out and leave her young daughter with her sisters or brothers, and this is not considered negligence. However, if it was contrary to custom, such as if she opened the door and the only people present with the child were of her age or younger, then she is considered negligent, and she must fast two consecutive months as a precaution. As for the blood money, it is for her father. Yes.
