Greeting one another in the congregation after the prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 10217 )
Q: Our congregation and relatives, some of them are farmers and busy with their farming, especially the neighbors in the area, and the others are government employees. The week passes and we do not meet except at the Friday prayer of every week. When the imam prays and says the two taslams and they recite the dhikr, they stand up to greet one another in the middle of the mosque before the voluntary prayer. Is this permissible or not? Therefore, I ask your eminence for a fatwa that will benefit us. Do the worshippers have the right to greet one another in the middle of the mosque and before the voluntary prayer, or should they leave the greeting until they go outside the mosque? We ask your eminence for a fatwa that will guide the worshippers from you.
On Friday?
A: It is permissible for you to greet one another in the mosque and outside the mosque; due to the generality of the evidence for the prescription of greeting, and your presence in the mosque in the state mentioned does not prevent greeting. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
