Ruling on returning the greeting after prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
What is the ruling on the congregation members greeting one another after the Fajr prayer specifically? I have heard some say that it is a religious innovation, and others say there is nothing wrong with it. What is the correct statement regarding this? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
We do not know of any blame in that. It is established that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) returned the greeting to the Bedouin who entered the mosque and did not complete his prayer. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to him:
Go back and pray, for you have not prayed. So he went back and prayed, then he came and greeted the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he returned the greeting to him, then he said to him: Go back and pray, for you have not prayed...ارجع فصل فإنك لم تصل، فرجع فصلى، ثم جاء فسلم على النبي ﷺ، فرد عليه السلام ثم قال له: ارجع فصل فإنك لم تصل...
. This is in the two Sahihs. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not disapprove of his second and third greetings; rather, he approved of them and returned the greeting to him while he was praying around him, and he did not miss it. This is because exchanging greetings among the congregation brings hearts together and strengthens affection.
