The Meaning of Tasbih

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The seventh question of Fatwa No. ( 8864 )
Q7: What is the meaning of each of the following: 1- Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah), 2- Alhamdulillah (Praise be to Allah), 3- Al-Shukr li-Allah (Thanks be to Allah), 4- La hawla wa la quwwata illa bi-Allah (There is no power or might except with Allah)?
A7: The attribute of praising Allah is realized by frequently engaging in tasbih (glorification), tahlil (declaring the oneness of Allah), tahmid (praising Allah), takbir (magnifying Allah), and by making much du'a (supplication) and istighfar (seeking forgiveness). It is also realized by describing Him (Glorified and Exalted is He) with the attributes by which He described Himself in His great Book and on the tongue of His trustworthy Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). We advise you to review the book (Al-Adhkar) by al-Nawawi, (Riyad al-Salihin), (Al-Kalim al-Tayyib) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah, and (Al-Wabil al-Sayyib) by Ibn al-Qayyim. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
