The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6035 )
Q1: Regarding Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) taught me the tashahhud, with his hand between my hands, just as he taught me a surah from the Qur'an: 'The blessings are for Allah, and the prayers and the good things. Peace be upon you, O Prophet... etc.' And he was among us. So when he passed away, we said: Peace be upon the Prophet
(peace and blessings be upon him). Many people say this latter form and command it.
A1: The form of the tashahhud that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to say in his prayer and commanded his companions to say is what the two Shaykhs recorded in the two Sahihs from Abdullah ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:Sahih al-Bukhari 6265 And this is the most correct; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) taught it to his companions and did not say, "When I die, say: Peace be upon the Prophet." And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) taught me the Tashah-hud as he taught me a Sura from the Qur'an, while my hand was between his hands. (Tashah-hud was) all the best compliments and the prayers and the good things are for Allah. Peace and Allah's Mercy and Blessings be on you, O Prophet! Peace be on us and on the pious slaves of Allah, I testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, and I also testify that Muhammad is Allah's slave and His Apostle.
