Washing the Child Born Dead

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 4884 )
Q: A. Some people, when placing the deceased in the grave, put stones or bricks on the door of the lahd before burial and seal the lahd with earth. Is this permissible or not? B. When a child is born dead, not alive, and is washed and shrouded like an adult deceased, is it named or buried without being named? Some people do not shroud the child in the known white shroud, but bury it in a black cloth, especially those for whom it is the first time a child has died. I ask for information on this.
A. First: This is what is prescribed when placing the deceased in his lahd, which is to place bricks or the like above the lahd, and to seal the space between the bricks with clay so that earth does not enter upon the deceased.
Second: If the child comes out of his mother’s womb dead after the soul has been breathed into him, he is washed, shrouded, prayed over with the funeral prayer, buried, and named. It is recommended that the shroud be white. If he is shrouded in a black shroud, it suffices, but it is contrary to the Sunnah. If the reason for shrouding him in black is superstition or displaying anger, that is forbidden because it contradicts patience with the divine decree and destiny of Allah. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
