The third question of Fatwa No. ( 4805 )
Q3: We often hear about certain books, such as Ibn Sina, and the book of Abu Mash'ar al-Falaki, and Shumus al-Anwar, and the Book of Mercy, and the like. Do these books have any basis in truth, and is it true that people believe in them, such as extracting jinn, using azaim (incantations), and writing amulets and the like? And if that is true, is it permissible for a person to make that his profession, and say to people through those books: You are sick on such-and-such a day at such-and-such a time, and you are sick when you go to the water, and you are sick at such-and-such an hour, and this one is sick when the wind rises, and this one is sick when he touches the dew, and the like? And if that is true, is it permissible for a person to use it, make it his profession, and take people's money for it?
A3: It is not permissible for you to act upon the sorcery and the use of jinn contained in the books mentioned, nor to make that your profession, nor is it permissible to believe in what is contained in them; for they contain shirk (associating partners with Allah), bid'ah (religious innovations), superstitions, and claims of knowledge of the unseen. Knowledge of the unseen is the exclusive domain of Allah, so no one knows the unseen except He (Glorified and Exalted is He), and He may reveal some of the unseen to whom He wills of His messengers. You must avoid them.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
