The mixing of men and women in education
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 16114 )
Q3: I am studying in a co-educational secondary school that does not provide useful academic knowledge. To add to that, all secondary schools are of this nature. Is it permissible to complete my studies under these circumstances? Is it obligatory to stop studying? And what is the ruling on education for girls at this time?
A3: It is prescribed for a woman to study Islamic jurisprudence and other sciences that she needs or that help her to know the matters of her religion, provided that no religious prohibition results from it. However, if a religious prohibition results from it, such as mixing with non-mahram men or the absence of hijab, then it is not permissible; because these are forbidden matters, and because that leads to corruption.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and companions.
