Fatwa number ( 7728 )
Q: What is the ruling in Islam regarding a woman going out to study secular knowledge, when she commits some sins in this outing, such as removing the niqab, mixing with men, and wasting time on what is not beneficial? Knowing that my father orders me to go to university, and when I insisted on not going, they became very, very angry with me. Am I required to obey them in this matter, and if I do not obey them, is there a sin in this case? Please inform us, may Allah reward you and may He reward you with much good.
A: Removing the hijab is forbidden, and mixing with men in education is forbidden. It is not obligatory to obey parents in disobedience to Allah the Exalted, and there is no sin on you for that.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
