The Meaning of Hijrah and Its Conditions

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 7150 )
Q6: What are the conditions of hijrah in Islam, and what is the meaning of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Worship during the time of bloodshed is like emigrating to me.عبادة في الهرج كهجرة إلي
Sunan Ibn Majah 3985Sahih (Darussalam)
?

A6: Hijrah is: leaving the land of disbelief for the land of Islam, and it is obligatory. Allah the Exalted said:
Indeed, those whom the angels take [in death] while wronging themselves - [the angels] will say, "In what [condition] were you?"إِنَّ الَّذِينَ تَوَفَّاهُمُ الْمَلائِكَةُ ظَالِمِي أَنْفُسِهِمْ قَالُوا فِيمَ كُنْتُمْ
[An-Nisa 4:97]
up to His saying:
For those, their refuge is Hell - and evil it is as a destination.فَأُولَئِكَ مَأْوَاهُمْ جَهَنَّمُ وَسَاءَتْ مَصِيرًا
[An-Nisa 4:97]
Ibn Kathir said regarding this verse: This noble verse is general for everyone who resides among the polytheists and is able to perform hijrah, but is not able to establish the religion; he is thus wronging himself and committing a forbidden act by consensus. End of quote. As for the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
Worship during the time of bloodshed is like emigrating to me.العبادة في الهرج كهجرة إلي
Sunan Ibn Majah 3985Sahih (Darussalam)
, it indicates the virtue of worshipping Allah alone in times of fitnah and fighting, and that it is in virtue like the hijrah to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when the Muslims were migrating to him in Madinah from the lands of disbelief, Makkah , before the conquest. There is no indication in this of dropping the obligation of hijrah from one who is able to perform it while being in the land of disbelief and unable to
establish his religion among those disbelievers. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
