The third question of Fatwa No. ( 5133 )
Q3: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan ad-Daraqutni 3:5 Does the seventh year mean when the child has completed six years and is entering the seventh, or when he has completed the seventh and is entering the eighth?
A3: When the child reaches seven years of age, his guardian must command him to pray so that he becomes accustomed to it; for the Imam Ahmad and Abu Dawud and al-Hakim narrated that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Abi Dawud 495Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani) , and from this it is known that the intended meaning is the completion of the seven years, not the beginning of them. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
Q3: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Order your children to pray when they are seven, beat them for it when they are ten, and separate them in their beds.
