Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted: "From 'Amr ibn Shu'ayb, from his father, from his grandfather (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Command your children to pray when they become seven years old, and beat them for it (prayer) when they become ten years old; and arrange their beds (to sleep) separately. مُروا أولادكم بالصلاة وهم أبناء سبع سنين ، واضربوهم عليها وهم أبناء عشر ، وفرقوا بينهم في المضاجع
Sunan Abi Dawud 495Hasan Sahih (Al-Albani)
, a good hadith, narrated by Abu Dawud with a good chain of narration."
And from Subayr ibn Ma'bad al-Juhani (may Allah be pleased with him), who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Teach the boy to pray at seven years old, and beat him for it at ten years old. علِّموا الصبي الصلاة لسبع سنين ، واضربوه عليها ابن عشر سنين
, a good hadith, narrated by Abu Dawud and al-Tirmidhi, and he said: A good hadith. And the wording of Abu Dawud is:
Command a boy to pray when he reaches the age of seven years مروا الصبي بالصلاة إذا بلغ سبع سنين
