Q2: Can a woman experience postnatal bleeding after forty days, and does she have to make up the prayers she missed during menstruation or postnatal bleeding?
A2: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions.. To proceed: What she sees of blood after the forty days is not postnatal bleeding, but rather irregular non-menstrual bleeding. She should perform the full ritual bath after the forty days, pray, fast, and perform the ablution for each prayer. She should place a cloth or something similar on her private parts to prevent the blood from flowing. It is not obligatory for her to make up the prayers she missed during her menstruation or during her postnatal bleeding. However, she must make up the fasting she missed from Ramadan due to menstruation or postnatal bleeding, unless the blood coming from her after the forty days coincides with the time of her usual period, in which case she does not fast and does not pray. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
