Q4, 5: What is the status of the Ka'bah among Muslims and its importance, why was it built, who built it, and is it now in its original form?
A4, 5: The Noble Ka'bah is the qiblah of Muslims in their prayers, as they face it in every prayer; in obedience to the command of Allah the Exalted in His saying:[Al-Baqarah 2:144] the verse, and the place where they perform their rites in Hajj and 'Umrah by circumambulating it; in obedience to His saying, Mighty and Majestic: [Al-Hajj 22:29] and following what Allah the Exalted prescribed through the tongue of His Messenger Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Ibrahim al-Khalil and his son Isma'il (peace be upon them both and upon our Prophet) built it, as Allah made clear in His saying, the Exalted: [Al-Baqarah 2:127] And its construction was renewed several times after that.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.

We have certainly seen the turning of your face, [O Muhammad], toward the heaven, and We will surely turn you to a qiblah with which you will be pleased. So turn your face toward al-Masjid al-Haram. And wherever you [believers] are, turn your faces toward it
قَدْ نَرَى تَقَلُّبَ وَجْهِكَ فِي السَّمَاءِ فَلَنُوَلِّيَنَّكَ قِبْلَةً تَرْضَاهَا فَوَلِّ وَجْهَكَ شَطْرَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ وَحَيْثُمَا كُنْتُمْ فَوَلُّوا وُجُوهَكُمْ شَطْرَهُperform Tawaf around the ancient House."
وَلْيَطَّوَّفُوا بِالْبَيْتِ الْعَتِيقِAnd [mention] when Abraham was raising the foundations of the House and [with him] Ishmael, [saying], "Our Lord, accept [this] from us. Indeed You are the Hearing, the Knowing.
وَإِذْ يَرْفَعُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ الْقَوَاعِدَ مِنَ الْبَيْتِ وَإِسْمَاعِيلُ رَبَّنَا تَقَبَّلْ مِنَّا إِنَّكَ أَنْتَ السَّمِيعُ الْعَلِيمُAnd success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
