Money Vowed for Building a Mosque That Could Not Be Built May Be Used to Build a Similar One

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 8236 )
Q2: Before I came to Saudi Arabia , I was preparing myself to travel to Europe for work. When I entered Jordan , I stopped at a mosque that was just beginning to be built, and I made a vow, saying: “This is a vow to Allah the Exalted that, if Allah the Exalted grants me success by not going to Europe and instead going to Saudi Arabia , with His help, I will give the aforementioned mosque one hundred and fifty Jordanian dinars.” Praise be to Allah, He granted me success by His mercy, and I traveled to Saudi Arabia instead of Europe . In the second year, I returned to the mosque for which I had vowed the ( 150 ) dinars and found that everything had been completed in the mosque, praise be to Allah. Can I pay the vow to the same mosque, or should I pay it to one of the mosques in the West Bank , since they are in greater need than the aforementioned mosque? Because in the West Bank , when building mosques, we find it difficult due to a lack of money? Please advise us, may Allah reward you with good.
A2: If the situation is as you described, you may allocate that amount to another mosque in the West Bank , and that will fulfill your vow. May Allah accept it from you. We advise you not to make vows again.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.
