Recirculation of Sewage Water: Does It Purify It?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa Number ( 3159 )
Q: In these days, the water flowing into the sewers is collected along with impurities in some countries, and it is recirculated to return to the houses a second time. Has the substance of the impurity in this water been purified?
A: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions. After that: The original state of water is purity. The sewage water you mentioned has become ritually impure due to the urine, feces, and the like that mixed with it. If it is recirculated and freed from the impurity, and the smell, taste, and color of the impurity disappear from it, it becomes pure. Otherwise, it remains ritually impure due to the traces and manifestations of the impurity that remain in it.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
