The ruling on performing wudu with sewage water after it has been treated

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa number ( 4431 )
Q: Some entities in the Kingdom and elsewhere convert impure sewage water into water that can be utilized, after treating it through technical methods for irrigating lands and planting crops, watering trees, and the like. The treatment stations for purifying sewage water and removing the impurities from it and the like vary according to capabilities, regions, and individual efforts, in addition to the executing companies and those responsible for these stations in Jeddah and Riyadh, for example, in the Kingdom and elsewhere. The sewage water about which we are asking regarding its ruling is, in the end, after precise treatment and increased care for it, in a state of clarity of color such that a person cannot know about it that it is treated and purified sewage water that has reached this state, and there is no difference between it and drinking water. Is this water pure, and is it valid for us to perform wudu with it, to purify clothes or the body or the place with it from what impurity has affected them, and to drink from it?
A: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon His Messenger, his family, and his Companions.. And after: If the reality is as mentioned, regarding the clarity of the abundant sewage water after
treatment and purification, until the color, smell, and taste of the impurity that mixed with it have disappeared - then its water has become pure (tahir) and does not render impure what it touches. It is permissible to use it for watering farms and trees, for purifying the body, place, and clothes from impurities, and for wudu and ghusl from janabah and the like. It is also permissible to drink from it, except if there are health harms that arise from using it, in which case that is prohibited; to preserve the soul and to avoid harm, not because of its impurity. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
