Vol. 3:
Woe to Arabs because of evil which has drawn nearويل للعرب من شر قد اقترب
Sunan Abi Dawud 4249
. This phrase is part of a hadith narrated by al-Bukhari in his Sahih, in the Book of Fitnah (Chapter on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): "Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn near"), and he reported the hadith: Malik ibn Isma'il narrated to us, Ibn 'Uyaynah narrated to us that he heard al-Zuhri from 'Urwah from Zaynab bint Umm Salamah from Umm Habibah from Zaynab bint Jahsh (may Allah be pleased with them) that she said:
The Prophet (ﷺ) got up from his sleep with a flushed red face and said, "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah. Woe to the Arabs, from the Great evil that is nearly approaching them. Today a gap has been made in the wall of Gog and Magog like this." (Sufyan illustrated by this forming the number 90 or 100 with his fingers.) It was asked, "Shall we be destroyed though there are righteous people among us?" The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Yes, if evil increased."
Sahih al-Bukhari 7059
. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
