The first question of Fatwa No. ( 7380 ):
Q1: Exegesis of the verse in Surat al-Isra[Al-Isra 17:5] , is it specific to the believers or is it general? And did it happen or did it not happen?
Volume 1: Allah the Exalted informed the Children of Israel and made clear to them in the Book He revealed to them that they would commit corruption in the land, be arrogant therein, and transgress against the people twice. When their first act of corruption occurred, Allah sent against them an army
of His creation, severe in might, possessing strength, equipment, and arrogance, who overpowered them, took possession of their lands, roamed through their homes, and moved among their houses; this was a punishment for their transgression, and it was a decisive, just decree from Allah and a wisdom. Then, when the Children of Israel repented and turned back to Allah, He made them the victors over these arrogant ones, granted them victory over their enemy, and they recovered their lands from them. He supported them with wealth and children and made them more numerous; this was a reward for their repentance and good conduct, a mercy and favor from Allah. Whoever does good, it is for himself, and whoever does evil, it is against himself. When the promise of the Hereafter comes and their second act of corruption occurs through arrogance and tyranny, Allah will send against them those who will inflict upon them severe punishment and enter the Mosque of Bayt al-Maqdis as they entered it the first time, and destroy whatever Allah wills to destroy; this is a just recompense for their transgression and corruption in the land, and a justice and wisdom from Him the Exalted. Allah the Exalted said:[Fussilat 41:46] Then He informed them that if they returned to corruption, He would punish them in kind for their actions. To increase the benefit, I advise you to read [Tafsir Ibn Kathir ] (may Allah have mercy on him) for the verses mentioned from Surat al-Isra. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

Allah the Exalted said:
Whoever does righteousness - it is for his [own] soul; and whoever does evil [does so] against it. And your Lord is not ever unjust to [His] servants.
