The tenth question of Fatwa No. ( 6292 ):
Q10: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:[Al-An'am 6:146] , what is the meaning of these verses?
Vol. 10: Ibn Jarir (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his exegesis: He, the Exalted in Majesty, says: And We forbade to the Jews every animal with a claw, which is among the livestock and birds that does not have split hooves; such as camels, ostriches, geese, and ducks. His statement:[Al-An'am 6:146] , He, the Exalted, informed that He forbade to the Jews the fat of cattle and sheep, except what He exempted from it, namely what is carried on their backs, or the intestines, or what is mixed with bone. So, all fat other than what Allah exempted in His Book from cattle and sheep was forbidden to them. As for His statement, the Exalted: [Al-An'am 6:146] , it means: except the fat of the flank and what is attached to the back, for it was not forbidden to them. And His statement: , is the plural of *hawiyah*: it is what has gathered in the belly and become round, which are the caecums. And His statement, the Exalted: [Al-An'am 6:146] And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
Q10: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
