Q7: What is the best book on tafsir among the books currently available and those from the past?
A7: The best book on tafsir varies according to the reader's capacity and means. In any case, the best in itself is the book [Tafsir Ibn Jarir al-Tabari], and the book [Tafsir Ibn Kathir], and similar books of tafsir based on athar, for they are easier in expression, more balanced in understanding the intended meaning, closer to the meanings of the Qur'an, and nearer to hitting the truth and explaining the objectives of the Shari'ah, while mentioning the hadiths and athar that bear witness to that, the established ones, and referring the ambiguous verses to the clear ones. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
