True Servitude

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The sixth question of Fatwa No. ( 4150 ):
Q6: What is true servitude? Is it making another person a slave, even if that person is not on the path of Islam?
A6 : Servitude is of types: 1 - True, general servitude for all creation in every time, and this belongs to no one except Allah alone, as in His saying:
(93) There is no one in the heavens and earth but that he comes to the Most Merciful as a servant. (94) He has enumerated them and counted them a [full] counting. (95) And all of them are coming to Him on the Day of Resurrection alone.
[Maryam 19:93-95]
, and as in the Holy Hadith narrated by Muslim from Abu Dharr al-Ghifari (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said: "O My servants, I have forbidden oppression for Myself and have made it forbidden amongst you, so do not oppress one another.قال الله تعالى: يا عبادي، إني حرمت الظلم على نفسي وجعلته بينكم محرمًا فلا تظالموا
Sahih Muslim 2577a
... the hadith. And as in the Prophetic hadith in the famous supplication:
O Allah, I am Your servant, the son of Your servant, the son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand. Your decree concerning me is firm, Your judgment concerning me is just. I ask You by every name that is Yours, by which You have named Yourself, or revealed it in Your Book, or taught it to any of Your creation, or kept it secret in Your knowledge of the unseen, that You make the great Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the dispeller of my sorrow, and the remover of my anxiety.
Sahih Ibn Hibban 7:372
. This is a cosmic, decreed, true, general servitude, the implication of which is that Allah disposes of His creation as He wills, and their submission to Him, willingly or unwillingly; there is no refuting His decree, and He is the Subtle, the Aware, with no partner in any of that.
2 - Servitude of honor and distinction for His chosen ones and His awliya (close friends of Allah) among His prophets, His angels, and the rest of the righteous among His servants, as in His saying:
Exalted is He who took His Servant by night from al-Masjid al-Haram to al-Masjid al-Aqsa, whose surroundings We have blessedسُبْحَانَ الَّذِي أَسْرَى بِعَبْدِهِ لَيْلا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ الْحَرَامِ إِلَى الْمَسْجِدِ الأَقْصَى الَّذِي بَارَكْنَا حَوْلَهُ
[Al-Isra 17:1]
the verses, and His saying regarding the angels:
Rather, they are [but] honored servants.
[Al-Anbya 21:26]
the verses, and His saying regarding the righteous in general:
And the servants of the Most Merciful are those who walk upon the earth easily, and when the ignorant address them [harshly], they say [words of] peace,وَعِبَادُ الرَّحْمَنِ الَّذِينَ يَمْشُونَ عَلَى الأَرْضِ هَوْنًا وَإِذَا خَاطَبَهُمُ الْجَاهِلُونَ قَالُوا سَلامًا
[Al-Furqan 25:63]
to the last verse of Surat al-Furqan. This is a specific true servitude by which Allah the Exalted distinguished the righteous, the good among His servants; to honor them and distinguish them. 3 - Servitude between a created being and a created being, and this is a specific, limited, temporary servitude. It is either lawful, if it is due to Islamic war against the disbelievers, which Allah granted to the victors and to those who bought from them, and He established rights for it; or it is unlawful, which occurs through the theft of free people or the tyranny over them with injustice and aggression, or through buying from these people; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
There are three whose adversary I shall be on the day of resurrection: a man who gave a promise in my name then acted faithlessly; a man who sold a free man and enjoyed the price he received for him; and a man who hired a servant and, after receiving full service from him, did not give him his wages.
Mishkat al-Masabih 2984

Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
