The claim that the Rock of al-Quds is suspended in space
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question 4: Its text is ( the Rock of al-Quds upon which the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) ascended on the night of the Mi'raj. They told us: It is suspended by power , so please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good ).
Answer 4 : Everything stands in its place by the permission of Allah, whether it be the heavens and what is in them, or the earths and what is in them, even the Rock about which you asked. Allah the Exalted said:[Fatir 35:41] , and He the Exalted said: [Ar-Rum 30:25] the verse. And the Rock of al-Quds is not suspended in space with air around it on all sides, but rather
it remains connected on one side to the mountain of which it is a part, firmly joined with it. It and its mountain stand in their places by the ordinary, comprehensible cosmic causes, just as other created things do. We do not deny Allah’s power to hold a part of the cosmos in space, for all created things collectively stand in space by the power of Allah, as mentioned earlier. And Allah raised the Mount (Tur) above the people of Moses when they refused to act upon the laws that Moses brought them, and it was held by the power of Allah. He the Exalted said:[Al-Baqarah 2:63] , and He said: [Al-A'raf 7:171] . But the intention is to clarify the reality: that the Rock in al-Quds is not suspended in space on all sides, completely separated from the mountain, but rather it is connected to it and firmly joined with it. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his companions.

Indeed, Allah holds the heavens and the earth, lest they cease. And if they should cease, no one could hold them [in place] after
And of His signs is that the heaven and earth remain by His command
وَمِنْ آيَاتِهِ أَنْ تَقُومَ السَّمَاءُ وَالأَرْضُ بِأَمْرِهِit remains connected on one side to the mountain of which it is a part, firmly joined with it. And [recall] when We took your covenant, [O Children of Israel, to abide by the Torah] and We raised over you the mount, [saying], "Take what We have given you with determination and remember what is in it that perhaps you may become righteous."
And [mention] when We raised the mountain above them as if it was a dark cloud and they were certain that it would fall upon them, [and Allah said], "Take what We have given you with determination and remember what is in it that you might fear Allah."
