Insulting the Qur'an and the Hadith, and unlawful earnings

Machine translationRead the Arabic original

Fatwa number ( 3255 ):

Q: The questioner's father works in a government position in Egypt and takes bribes and insults verses of the Qur'an and hadiths. When verses about the hijab are mentioned to him, he says, "Leave the fanaticism." He sometimes prays in the mosque and sometimes elsewhere, and he may combine prayers. As for his mother, she does not pray, but he has sisters who do pray. He asks: Do I have the right to live with them, and what is the ruling on eating and living from my father's money? Please issue a ruling for us.
A: Insulting the verses of the Qur'an and the established hadiths is disbelief that takes one out of Islam, and deliberately abandoning prayer is also disbelief, and taking bribes is among the major sins. So first: you should advise your parents to perform the five daily prayers
at their proper times, and advise your father to control his tongue from cursing in general, and from insulting the Qur'an and the Hadith and mocking the hijab in particular, and to abandon taking bribes. If your father responds to the advice, praise be to Allah; otherwise, continue advising them and being kind to them, perhaps Allah will guide them through you. Do not mix with them in a way that harms you in your religion, and do not annoy them, but accompany them in this world with kindness and follow up with advice to your sisters, fearing that they may be afflicted with trial by associating with them. Second: If your father has no income except unlawful earnings, do not eat from it. If his wealth is a mixture of unlawful and lawful, it is permissible for you to eat from it according to the correct opinion of the scholars, and if you can abstain from it, that is better for you. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
