Shaving the beard and letting garments hang below the ankles

Fatwa number ( 11398 ):
Q: An imam delivered a sermon in a mosque on Friday, corresponding to 10/6/1408 AH. In his sermon, he reminded people of Paradise and the blessings Allah has prepared therein. At the end of the sermon, he swore that one who shaves his beard or lets his garment hang below the ankles will not enter Paradise. We ask your eminence to inform us about this, and whether he is correct or incorrect?
A: Shaving the beard and letting garments hang below the ankles are forbidden. The one who commits this is a sinner and an open sinner. If a Muslim dies while persisting in this and does not repent to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), his case is left to Allah. If He wills, He will punish him according to the magnitude of his sin and then admit him to Paradise. If He wills, He will pardon him and not punish him, out of His grace and generosity. The preacher you mentioned, who swore that the one who shaves his beard and the one who lets his garment hang below the ankles will not enter Paradise, has erred in his oath and contradicted the position of the people of the Sunnah and the community regarding the ruling on a sinner who dies a Muslim without repenting. So we ask Allah to guide him. And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
