Tafsir of Surat Nuh

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 5771 ):
Q1: Is the moon between the heavens or beneath the lowest heaven? And if it is between them, how is it possible to ascend to the surface of the moon with evidence?
A1: It is possible that the moon is between the heavens, and it is possible that it is beneath the lowest heaven, because there is no evidence specifying which of the two possibilities is the case. There is no evidence in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And made the moon therein a [reflected] lightوَجَعَلَ الْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًا
[Nuh 71:16]
, that specifies that it is between them; because it is possible that the prepositional phrase
in themفِيهِنَّ
is connected to the word
a lightنُورًا
, and the meaning is: And He made the moon a light in them, so its light is in them just as it is on the earth, and it does not follow from that that it is between them. And if it is not specified that it is between them, it is possible to ascend to it with modern means of ascent. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
