A person saying, “I met so-and-so by chance”
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second and third questions of Fatwa No. ( 4800 ):
Q 2 and 3: Is it permissible for me to say: “When I went to the market, I met so-and-so by chance”? And is this word (chance) forbidden or shirk (associating partners with Allah) with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), or what should I say instead of this word? Please give us a ruling, may Allah reward you with good.
A 2 and 3: It is not forbidden for a person to say, “I met so-and-so by chance,” nor is it shirk (associating partners with Allah); because what is meant by it is that he met him without a prior promise or agreement to meet, for example, and there is no harm in this meaning. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
