The first question of Fatwa No. ( 6342 ):

Q1: Is there a hadith that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) saw during his prayerAmr ibn Luhayyrolling about in the Fire of Hell, and that he was the first to introduce the worship of idols inthe Ka'bahor inthe Arabian Peninsula, and is this authentic hadith — if its authenticity is established — evidence that it is not disliked for the one praying to facesuch electric, oil, or gas heaters?
Give us the truth in your ruling, may Allah the Exalted reward you and make us and you among those who listen to the statement and then follow the best of it. O Allah, make us among those of understanding who apply the Book and the Sunnah to themselves and their families, for You are the Hearing, the Knowing, the Near, the One who answers supplication.

A1:Al-Bukhariin his SahihfromAbu Hurayrah(may Allah be pleased with him) who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I saw 'Amr ibn 'Amir al-Khuza'i dragging his intestines in the Fire; he was the first to let the sacrificial camels run free.رأيت عمرو بن عامر الخزاعي يجر قصبه في النار كان أول من سيب السوائب
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 17:655
, and in it also fromAishah(may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
I saw Hell and its different portions were consuming each other and saw `Amr dragging his intestines (in it), and he was the first person to establish the tradition of letting animals loose (for the idols).رأيت جهنم يحطم بعضها بعضًا، ورأيت عمرًا يجر قصبه وهو أول من سيب السوائب
Sahih al-Bukhari 4624
, and there is no indication in these hadiths regarding facing a fire or the like, such as electric or oil heating devices, nor that he saw it while he was in prayer. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers upon our ProphetMuhammad, and his family and his Companions, and peace be upon them.
