The first question of Fatwa No. ( 3502 ):

Q1: Allah the Exalted said: ⁽²⁶⁾ [He is] Knower of the unseen, and He does not disclose His [knowledge of the] unseen to anyone ⁽²⁷⁾ Except whom He has approved of messengers, and indeed, He sends before each messenger and behind him observers
عَالِمُ الْغَيْبِ فَلا يُظْهِرُ عَلَى غَيْبِهِ أَحَدًا (26) إِلا مَنِ ارْتَضَى مِنْ رَسُولٍ
[Al-Jinn 72:26-27]
So is the wali of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) community a follower of his in knowledge of the unseen?

A1: Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) has decreed that knowledge of the unseen matters is exclusive to Him, saying:

Say, "None in the heavens and earth knows the unseen except Allah

قُلْ لاَ يَعْلَمُ مَنْ فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ الْغَيْبَ إِلا اللَّهُ

[An-Naml 27:65]

and He did not make an exception for this except for whom He chose among His messengers, revealing to them of the unseen what He wills. He the Exalted said:

[Al-Jinn 72:26-27]

. Therefore, anyone from the nations of the prophets and messengers who claims to know the unseen is a liar. And whoever claims that any of the awliya (close friends of Allah) and the righteous, who follow the messengers in creed and action, knows the unseen is a mistaken liar; for he contradicts what has been revealed in the verses of the Qur'an and what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the hadiths indicating that Allah the Exalted is exclusively in possession of knowledge of the unseen. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
