The Ruling on Wearing the Cross and When It Constitutes Disbelief
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 2245 ):
Q: We disagreed regarding the Muslim who wears the cross as the emblem of the Christians . Some of us declared him a disbeliever without discussion, while others said: We do not declare him a disbeliever until we discuss it with him and explain to him the prohibition of it, and that it is the emblem of the Christians . If he persists in wearing it, we declare him a disbeliever.
A: Providing the details in this matter and its like is obligatory. If the ruling on wearing the cross is explained to him, and that it is the emblem of the Christians , and evidence that the wearer is pleased with his affiliation to them and pleased with what they are upon, and he persists in that, he is declared a disbeliever; due to the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic:
And whoever is an ally to them among you - then indeed, he is [one] of them. Indeed, Allah guides not the wrongdoing people.
وَمَنْ يَتَوَلَّهُمْ مِنْكُمْ فَإِنَّهُ مِنْهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لاَ يَهْدِي الْقَوْمَ الظَّالِمِينَAnd they did not kill him, nor did they crucify him; but [another] was made to resemble him to them
وَمَا قَتَلُوهُ وَمَا صَلَبُوهُ وَلَكِنْ شُبِّهَ لَهُمْ
