The One-Unit Prayers and What Follows Them

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 8760 ):
Q: To our master Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), al-Fatihah × 7. To the Ghaus of this age, his helpers, and the rest of the awliya (close friends of Allah) (may Allah be pleased with them), al-Fatihah × 7. O Allah, O One, O Unique, O Finder, O Generous. Send blessings, peace, and mercy upon our master Muhammad and upon the family of our master Muhammad in every glance and breath, according to the number of His knowledge and His outpourings and His provisions × 100. O Allah, as You are worthy of it. Send blessings, peace, and mercy upon our master, our lord, our intercessor, our beloved, and the delight of our eyes, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), as he is worthy of it. We ask You, O Allah, by his right, to drown us in the depths of the ocean of unity, so that we see not, hear not, find not, live not, move not, nor rest except by it. And grant us the perfection of Your forgiveness, O Allah, the perfection of Your grace, O Allah, the perfection of Your knowledge, O Allah, the perfection of Your love, O Allah, and the perfection of Your pleasure, O Allah. And send blessings and peace upon him, and upon his family and his Companions, according to what Your knowledge encompasses and Your book records. By Your mercy, O Most Merciful of the merciful. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds.

O Allah, bless what You have created, and this city, O Allah, and this striving, O Allah × 7. O Allah, by the right of Your Greatest Name, and the status of our master Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), and the blessing of the helper of this time and his assistants and all Your awliya (close friends of Allah), O Allah, O Allah, O Allah, may Allah the Exalted be pleased with them × 3. Convey our call to all the people of the world and make it have a profound effect × 3. For You are Able to do all things and worthy of being answered × 3. So flee to Allah × 7. And say: "The truth has come and the falsehood has vanished; indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish" × 3. Al-Fatihah. These are the singular prayers for illuminating the hearts and purifying them, and for knowing Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
The methods for performing these One-Unit Prayers. First: A sincere intention for the face of Allah the Exalted alone, and that the person, when performing them, be concerned with exerting his utmost effort in presence, as if he is truly in the presence of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and the presence of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), with the outward and inward etiquettes, reverence, honor, magnification, and pure, complete love. Second: The beginner in performing these One-Unit Prayers should perform them with the numbers mentioned there, or more, in a session every day and night, meaning the two hours that are free for him, in the morning or evening or otherwise, up to forty. He may shorten the forty to seven days, but with doubling the mentioned numbers by ten; so the seven becomes seventy, the one hundred becomes a thousand, and the three becomes thirty. If he misses any, he makes up what he missed. Then, after completing the forty or the seven, he makes it a regular recitation, meaning: he persists in performing it every day and night, meaning the two hours that are free for him. The best for the regular recitation is with the increase mentioned; because it is at the minimum, and the provision is generally according to the capacity. And for the one who makes it a regular recitation, he may reduce the numbers from the whole or part, or reduce some and increase some. For the beginner and others, performing it in congregation is better. The menstruating woman and the woman with post-natal bleeding do not recite al-Fatihah when performing them, nor verses of the Qur'an with her intention. Third: Whoever does not know how to read, or is unable to read, all of these prayers
should read some of them repeatedly until he is able to read them all, for the duration of reading the whole, which is approximately thirty minutes, or until the congregation finishes reading. If all the work is done in congregation, or if one is content with reading the phrase "Ya Sayyidi, Ya Rasool Allah" (O my Master, O Messenger of Allah) repeatedly for the duration mentioned, and whoever does not know how to read, or is unable to read, even some of it, let him remain for that duration, with concern for exerting his utmost effort and capacity in the repetition or remaining for that duration, as if he is truly in the presence of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and the presence of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), with the outward and inward etiquettes, reverence, honor, magnification, and pure, complete love. (Important) It is a firm requirement, besides the concern of the one who performs these One-Unit Prayers, to strive earnestly and diligently to exert his utmost effort and capacity in training his heart to be accustomed to every state, time, and place, by persisting in (for Allah, by Allah, and for the Messenger, by the Messenger, and for the Ghaus, by the Ghaus), and giving every right its due, with the more important being prioritized, then the next most important, then the most beneficial, then the next most beneficial, meaning: in not being heedless of them, constantly and continuously. The meaning of (Allah) is: that the person intends, in every one of his outward and inward actions that conform to the Shari'ah, meaning: what is pleasing to Allah and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), whether it is obligatory or otherwise from the Sunnah or the permissible, with the intention of worship for Allah the Exalted, and nothing else, meaning: not for the self; because of His saying, the Exalted:
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:56]
, and His saying, the Exalted:
And they were not commanded except to worship Allah, [being] sincere to Him in religionوَمَا أُمِرُوا إِلا لِيَعْبُدُوا اللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ الدِّينَ
[Al-Bayyinah 98:5]

, and His saying, the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
Actions are only by intentionsإنما الأعمال بالنيات
, and because the Shari'ah is the existence of actions for Allah the Exalted. (And by Allah) is witnessing the outward and inward actions that they are by the might and power of Allah, meaning: there is no power and no strength except by Allah. He said, the Exalted:
While Allah created you and that which you do?"وَاللَّهُ خَلَقَكُمْ وَمَا تَعْمَلُونَ
[As-Saffat 37:96]
, and He said, the Exalted:
And you do not will except that Allah wills - Lord of the worlds.وَمَا تَشَاءُونَ إِلا أَنْ يَشَاءَ اللَّهُ رَبُّ الْعَالَمِينَ
[At-Takwir 81:29]
, and the reality is witnessing the actions by Allah. So whoever claims and beautifies that he has power or strength or action by himself, he has associated with Allah the One who is Self-Subsisting. (And for the Messenger) is the intention with the intention mentioned in (for Allah) to follow the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), meaning the intention in his action that conforms to the Shari'ah, meaning other than sins, with the intention of worship for Allah the Exalted and for His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). He said, the Exalted:
And We did not send any messenger except to be obeyed by permission of Allah.وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَا مِنْ رَسُولٍ إِلا لِيُطَاعَ بِإِذْنِ اللَّهِ
[An-Nisa 4:64]
. (And by the Messenger) is witnessing the action that is pleasing to Allah the Exalted and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and what is with Him of outward and inward blessings, whether religious, worldly, or hereafter, from His intercession and His upbringing (peace and blessings be upon him). He said, the Exalted:
And you were on the edge of a pit of the Fire, and He saved you from itوَكُنْتُمْ عَلَى شَفَا حُفْرَةٍ مِنَ النَّارِ فَأَنْقَذَكُمْ مِنْهَا
[Ali 'Imran 3:103]
, and because he is the origin of every existent and the intermediary between the servant and his Lord, and he was sent as a mercy to the worlds. He said, the Exalted:
And We have not sent you, [O Muhammad], except as a mercy to the worlds.وَمَا أَرْسَلْنَاكَ إِلا رَحْمَةً لِلْعَالَمِينَ
[Al-Anbya 21:107]
.
And what was mentioned of "for Allah, by Allah, and for the Messenger, by the Messenger" is from the requirement of the meaning of the two testimonies in reality (I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah), and giving every right its due, meaning: fulfilling the rights that are between us and Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and people, and all creation, whether the rights are obligatory or otherwise from the Sunnah or the permissible. (And prioritizing the more important, then the more important, then the most beneficial, then the most beneficial) upon us in fulfilling the rights that cannot be combined, is to prioritize the more important, then the more important. If they are equal in importance, then prioritize the most beneficial, then the most beneficial, meaning: the greatest and largest benefit in the sight of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) and His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and people, and all creation - a religious, worldly, and hereafter benefit.

A: What is called the One-Unit Prayers and what is prepared for them contains lies, much religious innovation, and shirk (associating partners with Allah) with Allah the Exalted, and exaggeration regarding the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). 1- From the lies: what came in the last line of the statement that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is the origin of every existent. Indeed, he (peace and blessings be upon him), although he is the noblest of creation and the best of the prophets (peace be upon them), is not the origin of every existent, nor was creation created for his sake. Rather, he was born of two parents like the rest of the children of Adam, except for 'Isa ibn Maryam, who has no father. And creation was created to worship Allah alone, as He said, the Exalted:
And I did not create the jinn and mankind except to worship Me.وَمَا خَلَقْتُ الْجِنَّ وَالْإِنْسَ إِلاَّ لِيَعْبُدُونِ
[Adh-Dhariyat 51:56]
. 2- From the innovations in that: reciting al-Fatihah for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) seven
times, and reciting *Lughath al-Zaman* and the awliya (close friends of Allah) seven times. This is not established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he said:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718a
It was narrated by al-Bukhari and Muslim, along with the shirk (associating partners with Allah) involved in reciting it for the one they called *Lughath al-Zaman* and his helpers. Likewise, asking Allah to send prayers upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in every glance and breath, and according to the number of His knowledge, effusions, and support, and limiting it to one hundred times, is a bid'ah (religious innovation). Among the heinous innovations is what is on page 2 of their saying: “We ask You, O Allah, by His right, to drown us in the depths of the sea of unity until we see nothing, hear nothing, find nothing, sense nothing, move nothing, and rest nothing except by it…” This statement is about the unity of existence and tawassul (seeking nearness to Allah through a means) through the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) to Allah, asking Him to drown them in its depths until they disappear from existence, so that they have no hearing, sight, or sensation except through this unity. This is blatant disbelief and clear misguidance. Also among the shirky innovations is their calling upon the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to reach them, and their seeking aid from him to look at them with a look that connects them to Allah the Exalted, and to take hold of their hands. They draw near with these shirky acts and the like to remove the distress and division they are in, and to alleviate the hardship and affliction they face. They repeat these shirky words and verses a limited number of times. But how unlikely it is that grapes can be harvested from thorns, or honey extracted from bitter gourd.
Among the heinous innovations is urging the beginner to perform the *salawat al-wahdah* (prayers of unity) with specific numbers for forty days, and permitting the seeker to shorten this to seven days on the condition that he doubles the number of dhikr (remembrance of Allah) in them. Then, after the forty days or the seven days, he makes it a regular recitation that he persists in performing every day and night, morning and evening, and he makes up any numbers he missed… and so on, legislating what Allah has not permitted, which rivals the legislation of Allah. Glory be to You, our Lord, this is a great slander. Let the sane, prudent person look at how Satan made things ambiguous for them until they fell into shirk, and how he beautified their evil deeds for them until they took them as worship that brings them closer to Allah, and by which they gain strength after weakness, unity after division, and honor after humiliation. And how Satan took hold of them until he provoked them to call others to do what they had fallen into of shirk and slander, hoping to reach the truth through falsehood, and guidance through misguidance. But how unlikely it is! Glory be to You, this is a great slander. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
