The fifth question of Fatwa No. ( 7987 ):

Q5: We have a group in the mosque that repeats the phrase "Ya Latif" 122 times after the names of Allah the Most Beautiful, is this prescribed?
A5: It is not permissible to do this; because it was not reported from him (peace and blessings be upon him), and it is established from him that he said:

'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.

من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد

Sahih Muslim 1718a

, and in another wording:

He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.

من عمل عملاً ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
