The second question of Fatwa No. (5235):
Q2: The Ansar - the supporters of Imam al-Mahdi - who are spread throughout western Sudan and to whose method millions of common people subscribe, say that al-Mahdi states in his publications: "The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to walk ahead of my army and announce my victory to me." What is your opinion on these superstitions and charlatanism? We ask you to respond.
A2: First: This man's claim that he is al-Mahdi and that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) used to walk in front of his army and announce to him victory is a lie, a fabrication, and a contradiction of the Shari'ah of Allah and the agreed-upon reality among the people of the Islamic religion; because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) does not come out of his grave except on the Day of Resurrection; as Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Mu'minun 23:15-16], and His saying: [Az-Zumar 39:30-31], and the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him): Musnad Ahmad 15Hasan (Darussalam). Second: It has been previously written about the expected Mahdi in several writings, the most comprehensive and closest to the truth of which is what was written by the honorable Shaykh 'Abd al-Muhsin al-'Abbad, former Vice President of the Islamic University.
And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
