Visiting the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) Mosque and Praying in It

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 7275 ):
Q: I am 80 years old, born on 13/4/1903 CE, and Allah did not will for me at this age to visit the Honored Ka'bah or to visit the Mosque of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). Out of my love for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I send blessings upon him day and night; so I see him often in my dreams, and most recently today. Today, I did not see anything except that I should disclose this. I have a simple house, and I was not blessed with anything but one daughter, and she has an orphan son
who lives with me in return for serving me, and my income is limited. My longing to visit the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is great; should I sell this house and enjoy my visit to the Beloved?

A: First: We hope that your dream is a good one. Second: Traveling to visit the grave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) is not permissible, and what is prescribed is visiting his Mosque and praying in it, but it is not obligatory. Whoever visits his Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him) is prescribed to send greetings upon him and upon his two companions (may Allah be pleased with them both). It is not permissible for you to sell your residence for the sake of it. Obedience to him (peace and blessings be upon him) and adhering to his Sunnah and guidance, seeking the reward of Allah, in any time or place, is among the causes of happiness and success in this world and the Hereafter. And success is from Allah. May Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
