Machine translationRead the Arabic original

The first question of Fatwa number ( 8831 )

Q1: I wish to visit the Prophet's Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him) in al-Madinah al-Munawwarah . How should one send salutations upon the Prophet? Is visiting the mosque obligatory?
A1: Visiting the Prophet's Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him) is not obligatory, but if you travel to al-Madinah al-Munawwarah for the purpose of praying in his Mosque (peace and blessings be upon him), that is a recommended practice (sunnah). When you enter his Mosque, begin by praying, then go to the grave of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and say: (Peace be upon you, O Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings, may Allah send prayers upon you and your family and your Companions). Increase in sending prayers and salutations upon him, for it is established from his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
But invoke blessings on me, for your blessings reach me wherever you may be.وصلوا علي فإن صلاتكم تبلغني حيث كنتم
Sunan Abi Dawud 2042Sahih (Al-Albani)
Then send salutations upon Abu Bakr and 'Umar , and be pleased with them. Do not touch the grave, and do not make supplication at it; rather, turn away and supplicate to Allah wherever you wish in the mosque or elsewhere. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
One should not undertake journeys except to three mosques: al-Masque al-Haram (in Makkah ), the Aqsa mosque, or this mosque (in Madinah).لا تشد الرحال إلا إلى ثلاثة مساجد: المسجد الحرام ، ومسجدي هذا، والمسجد الأقصى
Bulugh al-Maram 5:58
Narrated by the Imam Ahmad
and al-Bukhari and Muslim and Abu Dawud and al-Nasa'i . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions, and peace be upon them.
