It is not permissible for all the Companions to be ignorant of a matter from the legislative matters of the Qur'an

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The fourth question of Fatwa No. ( 9247 ):
Q4: Is it permissible for all the Companions to be ignorant of a matter from the matters of the Qur'an or a word from the words of the Qur'an, considering the Companions as a whole and not as individuals?
A4: It is not permissible for all the Companions to be ignorant of a matter from the legislative matters of the Qur'an or to err in it all together; because that contradicts the texts of the Book and the Sunnah indicating the establishment of the infallibility of the Ummah in its consensus. It is permissible for some of them to be ignorant of a Qur'anic ruling or to err in it while others know it, but their consensus on error is not permissible and has not occurred. And success is from Allah. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
