Mentioning Some of the Favors of Allah upon His Righteous Servants

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q9: In his translation of verse (31) of Surat al-Kahf, which is the saying of the Exalted:
Those will have gardens of perpetual residence; beneath them rivers will flow. They will be adorned therein with bracelets of gold and will wear green garments of fine silk and brocade, reclining therein on adorned couches. Excellent is the reward, and good is the resting place.
[Al-Kahf 18:31]

, he stated that the meaning of this verse is the prediction of the victory of the Arabs over the Persians and the Romans and the fertility and prosperity enjoyed by the lands of these two empires?

A9: This verse explains the Hereafter reward that Allah has prepared for those He mentioned in the verse preceding this one, namely those who believed with sincere faith and did righteous deeds. The Exalted said:
(30) Indeed, those who have believed and done righteous deeds - indeed, We will not allow to be lost the reward of any who did well in deeds. (31) Those will have gardens ofإِنَّ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ إِنَّا لاَ نُضِيعُ أَجْرَ مَنْ أَحْسَنَ عَمَلا (30) أُولَئِكَ لَهُمْ جَنَّاتُ عَدْنٍ
[Al-Kahf 18:30-31]
This verse follows His explanation of the punishment of the wrongdoers who disbelieved and spread corruption in the earth, where He said:
Indeed, We have prepared for the wrongdoers a fire whose walls will surround them. And if they call for relief, they will be relieved with water like murky oil, which scalds [their] faces. Wretched is the drink, and evil is the resting place.
[Al-Kahf 18:29]
. Therefore, interpreting it as mentioned in the question, regarding the victory of the Arabs over the Persians and the Romans, and their enjoyment of the worldly pleasures and bounties in their lands, is a distortion of the words from their places and a contradiction of what the context of the speech requires. It is most similar to the interpretation of the Batiniyyah who deny the Hereafter and the reward therein for those who do good and for those who do evil.
