Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (Their reward with their Lord is Gardens of Eden)
Then He clarified their reward, saying: [Al-Bayyinah: 8] Here, Allah placed His praise of the believers who do good deeds before mentioning their reward; because Allah’s praise of them is of a higher rank and a greater virtue, and therefore He placed it before the reward, which is their reward on the Day of Resurrection [Al-Bayyinah 98:8] , (Gardens) is plural because of the difference in their types; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: (Two gardens of gold, their vessels and what is in them, and two gardens of silver, their vessels and what is in them) ,And to this points the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Ar-Rahman: 46] ,Then He mentioned the descriptions of these two gardens, then He said: [Ar-Rahman: 62] ,And Allah the Exalted said: [As-Sajdah: 19] .
The gardens that Allah the Exalted mentioned as a reward for the believers who do good deeds are great dwellings that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) prepared for the believing, God-fearing ones (in which is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has not occurred to the heart of any human being) , and it is impossible for a person in this world to ever imagine how the pleasure of the Hereafter is, because it is higher and more noble than what we imagine. Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: [There is nothing in Paradise from what is in this world except the names] but the realities differ greatly.
Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said: 'Adn means residing in a place and not migrating from it, and part of the perfection of the pleasure of the people of Paradise is that each one of them does not seek to change from the pleasure he is in; because he does not see anyone more perfect than him, and he does not feel in his heart that he is in a state of inferiority compared to one who is higher and more perfect than him,Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said: [Al-Kahf: 108] meaning: they do not seek to change from what they are in; because Allah the Exalted has satisfied them with what He has given them, so they do not find anyone with more perfect pleasure than them; for this reason, Allah the Exalted named these gardens Gardens of Eden. I ask Allah to make me and you among their people.
((Rivers flow beneath them)) [Al-Bayyinah: 8] (beneath them) The scholars said: beneath their palaces and trees, otherwise it is on their surface and not below, rather it is beneath these palaces and trees, and the rivers that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned here are summarized, and He detailed them in Surat Muhammad, saying: [Muhammad: 15] ,And the reports came regarding the description of these rivers: That they flow without channels and without trenches.
Meaning: That the river flows on the surface of the earth, heading wherever the person directs it, and it does not need to cut trenches or build channels to prevent the water from flowing to the right and left. In this, Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) says in his book Al-Nuniyyah:
Its rivers flow without channels, Glory be to Him who holds them back from overflowing
[An-Nisa 4:57] meaning: abiding therein forever, they do not die, they do not get sick, they do not become weak, they do not sleep, they do not grieve, and no fatigue touches them therein, so they are in the most perfect pleasure always and forever, the ages of ages. O Allah, make us among them.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:119] Meaning: they do not gather together so that one shows it to the other, but every person sees it in his place according to what Allah (Mighty and Majestic) willed.
Then He (Mighty and Majestic) said: meaning: that reward is for the one who feared Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and fear is the fear of Allah (Mighty and Majestic) accompanied by awe and magnification, and this does not come except from one who knows Allah,As Allah the Exalted said: [Fatir: 28] .
And with this, this great surah is completed, and what was possible for us of speaking about its exegesis is completed, and we ask Allah to make us all among those who recite the Book of Allah with true recitation, indeed He is capable of all things.
Then He clarified their reward, saying:
Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow
Their reward with Allah will be gardens of perpetual residence beneath which rivers flow
But for he who has feared the position of his Lord are two gardens -
And below them both [in excellence] are two [other] gardens -
So for them are gardens
Allah (Mighty and Majestic) said:
Gardens of Eden
They will not desire from it any transfer.
لا يَبْغُونَ عَنْهَا حِوَلاً((Rivers flow beneath them)) [Al-Bayyinah: 8] (beneath them) The scholars said: beneath their palaces and trees, otherwise it is on their surface and not below, rather it is beneath these palaces and trees, and the rivers that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) mentioned here are summarized, and He detailed them in Surat Muhammad, saying:
Is the description of Paradise, which the righteous are promised, wherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey
Its rivers flow without channels, Glory be to Him who holds them back from overflowing
wherein they abide forever
Allah being pleased with them, and they with Him
Then He (Mighty and Majestic) said:
That is for those who feared their Lord
Only those fear Allah, from among His servants, who have knowledge. Indeed, Allah is Exalted in Might and Forgiving.
And with this, this great surah is completed, and what was possible for us of speaking about its exegesis is completed, and we ask Allah to make us all among those who recite the Book of Allah with true recitation, indeed He is capable of all things.
