Allah’s Subjugation of the Devils to Sulayman: A Sign by Which Allah Distinguished Sulayman (peace be upon him)

Q11: Are the devils in the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Anbya 21:82], and likewise the devils in the saying of Allah the Exalted: [Sad 38:37], intended to mean foreigners or the worst of people?
A11: First: The word "devils" is a general term that includes every rebel among
the devils of humans and jinn. Allah the Exalted said:[Al-An'am 6:112]. However, the devils that Allah subjugated to Sulayman (peace be upon him), about whom Allah informed us in the verses of (Al-Anbiya) and (Sad), are those among them who dive for Sulayman, those who build for him, those who do other works for him, and those who are chained in shackles—devils from the jinn—as evidenced by the saying of Allah the Exalted in Surat Saba: [Saba 34:12-14]. And Allah the Exalted mentioned in Surat An-Naml the story of Sulayman (peace be upon him) with his assembly regarding the bringing of the throne of Bilqis , stating that the ifrits of the jinn were subjugated to Sulayman, so he said: [An-Naml 27:38-39].
Second: Allah the Exalted made His subjugation of the devils to Sulayman (peace be upon him) a sign that transcends the ordinary, such as making iron pliable, causing the spring of molten copper to flow, subjugating the wind and birds, teaching him the language of birds, and similar miracles of the ordinary that Allah granted to Sulayman in response to his supplication:[Sad 38:35-37]. If the intended meaning in these verses were foreigners or the worst of people, that would not have been a sign for Sulayman (peace be upon him) nor specific to him, as it occurs with other humans.
And of the devils were those who dived for him and did work other than that
وَمِنَ الشَّيَاطِينِ مَنْ يَغُوصُونَ لَهُ وَيَعْمَلُونَ عَمَلا دُونَ ذَلِكَAnd [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver
وَالشَّيَاطِينَ كُلَّ بَنَّاءٍ وَغَوَّاصٍA11: First: The word "devils" is a general term that includes every rebel among
the devils of humans and jinn. Allah the Exalted said:
And thus We have made for every prophet an enemy - devils from mankind and jinn, inspiring to one another decorative speech in delusion
(12) And to Solomon [We subjected] the wind - its morning [journey was that of] a month - and its afternoon [journey was that of] a month, and We made flow for him a spring of [liquid] copper. And among the jinn were those who worked for him by the permission of his Lord. And whoever deviated among them from Our command - We will make him taste of the punishment of the Blaze. (13) They made for him what he willed of elevated chambers, statues, bowls like reservoirs, and stationary kettles. [We said], "Work, O family of David, in gratitude." And few of My servants are grateful. (14) And when We decreed for Solomon death, nothing indicated to the jinn his death except a creature of the earth eating his staff. But when he fell, it became clear to the jinn that if they had known the unseen, they would not have remained in humiliating punishment.

(39) A powerful one from among the jinn said, "I will bring it to you before you rise from your place, and indeed, I am for this [task] strong and trustworthy."
Second: Allah the Exalted made His subjugation of the devils to Sulayman (peace be upon him) a sign that transcends the ordinary, such as making iron pliable, causing the spring of molten copper to flow, subjugating the wind and birds, teaching him the language of birds, and similar miracles of the ordinary that Allah granted to Sulayman in response to his supplication:
(35) He said, "My Lord, forgive me and grant me a kingdom such as will not belong to anyone after me. Indeed, You are the Bestower." (36) So We subjected to him the wind blowing by his command, gently, wherever he directed, (37) And [also] the devils [of jinn] - every builder and diver
