The Cure for Showing Off and Boasting

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q13: When I perform a good deed, I find myself plagued by intrusive thoughts about loving fame and the praise of people, but I do not delay in remembering Allah quickly and seeking refuge in Allah from this intrusive thought, from showing off, and from fame. By the will of Allah, this intrusive thought disappears. Will Allah hold me accountable for this intrusive thought, which is beyond my control? Is this a result of weak faith in me? What is obligatory for me?
A13: If the situation is as you described, regarding the intrusive thought and your quick resistance to it, and your seeking refuge in Allah from its evil and the evil of Satan, then we hope that Allah will encompass you with His pardon and mercy, and that He will grant us and you sincerity in speech and protect us from the schemes and whispers of Satan.
And success is from Allah. May Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
