Clarification of the permissibility of asking: "Where is Allah?" and the refutation of those who deny this.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : The witness is coming now, so pay attention! He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I have a slave girl who tends my sheep at Uhud." Uhud is a well-known mountain in Medina. "One day, a wolf attacked my sheep, and I am a human being who gets angry as other humans do, so I struck her a blow." He regretted it, because what was this poor girl to do about the wolf? She was just tending the sheep. So he regretted this blow.
He said: "O Messenger of Allah, I am required to free a slave." Meaning: Do I have to free her because I struck her? He said:
Bring her. هاتها
. Excuse me, he said: I am required to free a believing slave. He said:
Bring her. هاتِها
. She came, and he (peace be upon him) said:
Where is Allah? أين الله ؟
, do you hear?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : She said: "In the sky." He said to her:
Who am I? مَن أنا ؟
. She said: "You are the Messenger of Allah." So he turned to her master and said:
Free her; for she is a believer. اعتِقْها ؛ فإنها مؤمنة
. So if someone asks you, "Where is Allah?" you must answer him with the answer of the slave girl, whom the Messenger (peace be upon him) testified was a believer, because she answered his (peace be upon him) question well. So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) established for us the practice of asking those whom wisdom and Shari'ah policy dictate we should ask: "Where is Allah?" He established this Sunnah for us. If we are answered with the answer of the slave girl, whom the Messenger (peace be upon him) testified was a believer, we bless his answer and place our hand in his hand, for he is a brother to us. But if the answer is as we hear today: "Where is Allah?" This question is not permissible, do you hear this answer? I seek refuge in Allah. The Messenger of Allah asked this question, and you object to the Messenger of Allah and say: A question posed by the Messenger of Allah is not permissible!! I tell you now: the matter does not go beyond one of two things regarding this person who says: "This question is not permissible." Either he is ignorant, in which case he must be treated with gentleness and taught, or he is willfully ignorant, stubborn, and denying; meaning: he knows this hadith but weakens it to oppose his desire. Because weakening hadiths is not a matter of desire. If we wanted to open the door to weakening and authenticating hadiths according to the desire of every individual Muslim, and according to the ignorance of every individual Muslim, Islam would have suffered what Judaism and Christianity suffered. But Allah (Mighty and Majestic), for a profound wisdom He mentioned in the Noble Qur'an:
Indeed, it is We who sent down the Qur'an and indeed, We will be its guardian. إِنَّا نَحْنُ نَزَّلْنَا الذِّكْرَ وَإِنَّا لَهُ لَحَافِظُونَ
[Al-Hijr 15:9]
, our Lord (Mighty and Majestic) guaranteed the preservation of Islam by preserving the Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him).
