The Shaykh : This is not correct. If the pilgrim is the head of the household, he offers a sacrifice, meaning he tells his family: “Slaughter the sacrifice on my behalf and on yours,” and he gives them the cost. However, if he wants to offer a sacrifice in Makkah, he does not, because what is prescribed for the pilgrim is the hady, not the udhiyah. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did not offer a sacrifice during the Farewell Pilgrimage, even though he offered a sacrifice every year. During the Farewell Pilgrimage, how many camels did he slaughter as hady? One hundred camels. He slaughtered sixty-three of them with his own hand and gave the rest to Ali (may Allah be pleased with him), saying: “Slaughter them.” And he did not offer a sacrifice. Therefore, we say: If the pilgrim is the head of the household, he should instruct his family to buy a sacrifice from his money and slaughter it on his behalf and on theirs. And in Makkah, it is the hady. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward our esteemed Shaykh with the best reward. And may He make us among those who listen to the statement and then follow the best of it. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and messenger Muhammad.

The Shaykh : And if it is confirmed, the Dawah Office will announce it, if Allah wills.
