Discussion of the hadith of Umm al-'Ala (may Allah be pleased with her)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the hadith that follows those two, which is his saying:
And from Umm al-'Ala, it is a valid hadith. He said: And from Umm al-'Ala, who was the aunt of Hakim ibn Hizam and was among those who pledged allegiance (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) visited me while I was ill and said, “O Umm al-'Ala, be glad, for the illness of a Muslim removes his sins just as the fire removes the dross from iron and silver.” عادني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وآله وسلم وأنا مريضة فقال يا أم العلاء أبشري فإن مرض المسلم يذهب به خطاياه كما تذهب النار خبث الحديد والفضة
It was narrated by Abu Dawud.
