Continuation of the exegesis of the last verses of Surat al-Furqan and His saying, the Exalted
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : We praise Him, seek His help, and seek His forgiveness. We seek refuge in Allah from the evils of our own selves and from the bad of our deeds. Whomsoever Allah guides, none can mislead, and whomsoever He leaves to mislead, none can guide. And I bear witness that there is no god but Allah alone, with no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and His Messenger, His intimate friend and His trustee over His revelation, and His choice from among His creation. Allah the Exalted sent him before the Hour as a bringer of good news and a warner, and as a caller to Allah by His permission and a shining lamp. He conveyed the message, fulfilled the trust, advised the nation, and left his nation upon a straight path, its night like its day, and none deviates from it except one who is destroyed. May the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As for what follows—O my brothers—this is the monthly meeting that takes place every month, on the third Sunday night of every month. And this month is the month of Rabi' al-Awwal of the year 1420 AH.
We begin this meeting with what we concluded in our previous session regarding the exegesis of the end of Surat al-Furqan. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, mentioned the attributes of the slaves of the Most Merciful, and many of them have already been discussed. Among their attributes is:[Al-Furqan 25:72]. [Al-Furqan 25:72] In other words, if a person sits with a group engaged in falsehood, he is like them, even if he does not act, and even if he does not perform their action. The evidence for this is the saying of Allah the Exalted: [An-Nisa 4:140]. What does this mean? Answer? It means if you sit with them, then you are like them. [An-Nisa 4:140]. So they do not bear false witness. And if they do not bear false witness, they do not act upon it.
And on this occasion, many people today complain, complaining about attending wedding gatherings, because they say: Many wedding nights are not free from what is wrong. So what do we do? Do we attend despite our dislike of it, or do we not attend?
The answer, O our brothers, is that we say: If a person, when he attends, is able to prevent what is wrong, it is obligatory for him to attend. It is obligatory for him to attend for two reasons: First: that responding to the wedding feast is obligatory with known conditions. Second: that he is able to remove what is wrong. And whoever is able to remove what is wrong, it is obligatory for him to remove it. If he is not able, he does not attend, because if he attends, he shares in their sin. Some people say: If I do not attend, the relative will be upset and the friend will be upset. We say: Let it be so, because if you anger him, whom have you pleased? You have pleased Allah. And should the believer consider the pleasure of people over the pleasure of Allah? No, by Allah. Whoever seeks the pleasure of people through the anger of Allah, Allah will be angry with him and will make people angry with him. And whoever seeks the pleasure of Allah through the anger of Allah, Allah will suffice him regarding the burden of people. So do not be concerned, O my brother. And if the relative says to you: Why did you not attend? I say: If you had feared Allah, we would have attended. And we do not care. We do not favor anyone in the religion of Allah. And you say to him frankly: If you had abandoned this matter you intended, I would have responded to you. But that you hold this forbidden celebration and want me to attend? This is no, it is not possible. Likewise, there are people who sit with those who backbite people. And backbiting people is undoubtedly falsehood. You find him sitting and listening to the backbiting. And he says: I hate that. Is this claim true? Because if he truly hated it, he would not have sat. And if he sits with those who backbite people, even if he does not participate in the backbiting, he is a partner with them in the sin. Yes. Allah the Exalted says in describing the slaves of the Most Merciful:[Al-Furqan 25:72]. Idle talk: that which is not falsehood and is not prescribed and beloved. They pass by it with the passing of the noble.
That is: distant from idle talk, just as these attendees engage in idle talk. And this also happens frequently among people. You find people now in the rest houses, in the majlis, in the houses. You find much of their speech to be idle talk with no benefit. These people, when they pass by idle talk, they pass by with dignity, they are saved from idle talk and they bring good and advice. After that. Read.

أنهم لا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَ وَإِذَا مَرُّوا بِاللَّغْوِ مَرُّوا كِرَاماًdo not testify to falsehood
لا يَشْهَدُونَ الزُّورَAnd it has already come down to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah [recited], they are denied [by them] and ridiculed; so do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, you would then be like them
Indeed Allah will gather the hypocrites and disbelievers in Hell all together -
