What is the ruling on removing a dental bridge during wudu and ghusl?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Bring it so we can see what you have?

The questioner : Shaykh, we are often asked, regarding the person who has a dental bridge installed; is it obligatory for him to remove the bridge when performing ghusl or rinsing the mouth?

The Shaykh : We do so.

The questioner : Is it obligatory?

The Shaykh : We do so.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.

The Shaykh : And you, it is necessary to do so.

The questioner : Shaykh, my brother asked me this question, and I said, if Allah wills, I will ask the Shaykh, so you have practically, Shaykh, done this.

The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner : In our last trip, approximately.

The Shaykh : Yes, yes.

The questioner : So I told him, the Shaykh did it this way, until one of the brothers asked him, saying: Well... He said, until it is likely that the water reached the place of the bridge.

The Shaykh : I mean, if the ring is tight, it is not permissible except to remove it, but if it is loose, he makes this movement that lets the water pass. This watch, sometimes, do you see how it is now? It goes back and forth. Sometimes, due to the warmth of the air, or, for example, if the owner is overweight, it does not stay in place; he must remove it and let the water reach it completely. So, anything where it is possible to reach the water to what it is originally obligatory to reach with water, this reaching is necessary. With this condition, the filling of the molars and the fixed tooth are excluded. This, of course, it is not possible to reach the water to the space that was created previously and then filled with the filling; so the Muslim is not held accountable for this. But this; this is necessary, and so on.
Some of the fanatical scholars, and these specifically in the Hanafi school; because there is disagreement on the issue of rinsing the mouth and sniffing water in ghusl for janabah; is it obligatory or is it a recommended practice? The Hanafis say: obligatory, and the Shafi'is say: recommended practice; and therefore, for the Shafi'is, this is its peak or not its peak, it does not affect them, why? Because rinsing the mouth - in ghusl, we are talking about ghusl, pay attention -; rinsing the mouth is not obligatory for them, but for the Hanafis it is obligatory.
And therefore, some of the scholars who follow without knowledge from among them say that the filling of the molars is not permissible, and covering the decayed tooth after filling it, even with a metal other than gold, this is not permissible; because it prevents the water from reaching the tooth, and this is a strictness that is not appreciated or praiseworthy.
And we have in the authentic Sunnah, which I thank Allah for guiding us to, what helps us to be moderate in such matters. In "Sunan Abu Dawud" and others: "That a man from the Companions named 'Urfajah ibn Sa'd had his nose injured in a battle of the pre-Islamic age of ignorance called 'the Battle of Kalab,' the tip of the nose fell off, so he made a nose of silver," and from here we take something you need in your profession, we benefited from the Sunnah of our Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), this man when he made a nose of silver, it stank on him.

The questioner : Green, I mean, Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes, why? Because I, considering my watches, they are just an old style, I mean.

The questioner : You are the blessing.

The Shaykh : We used to use straps for some things related to the watch, sometimes with copper, sometimes with silver, so copper and silver have rust like iron, this man when he put the nose of silver, and here there is a flow as is known; this flow reacted with the silver, so the silver stank on him, "so he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and complained to him about the matter; so he ordered him to make a nose of gold"; because you know gold has resistance to this moisture and does not rust.
Here, a discussion took place between me and one of the fanatical Hanafis, we said: the mouth is a place of disagreement, and the nose, is it necessary in ghusl for janabah to reach the water or not? But this face, there is no disagreement; because it is something apparent, so we take from this hadith that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) allowed this man to make a nose of gold, and this nose - and here is the point related to medicine now -; it appears that it was fixed like the filled molars or the installed ones or... or something similar, and not like this bridge that is removed and put on, so I discussed the fanatic of his school in this aspect; I said to him: so the Messenger of Allah allowed this Companion to make a nose of gold, and this prevents the water from reaching; what did he say? He said: No, this was... a nose like the bridge that is removed and put on, what was my response to him? I said to him: if it were so, the first nose, which was of silver, would not have rusted; because as long as he has to remove it, he has to wash it, this rust would not affect it, so the man was silenced, I mean, and his argument fell; because the truth is, these are scholars who follow without knowledge, very, very rarely do they understand the jurisprudence of the Book and the Sunnah.
The jurisprudence of the Book and the Sunnah, the reality that we touch with our hands, expands the horizon of the one who understands the Book and the Sunnah, and expands his perceptions, and he derives rulings that he does not find explicitly stated in the books of branches that they call.
So the point is that there is a difference between the tooth or the piece or the bridge - for example - that is fixed and is not removed and put on, this is excused, like the nose that "Urfajah ibn Sa'd" made at that time.
But this which is easy to remove and wash what is under it by cleaning it itself - also - this is a health aspect that is not hidden; this has this ruling that is necessary, which is removing it, and reaching the water to all parts of the mouth.
This is the answer to your question.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.

The questioner : That is enough for us.

The Shaykh : Now, may Allah reward you with good.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.

The questioner : ... .

The Shaykh : May Allah reward you with good.
