From Abu Hurayrah, also, from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
When one of you strikes his servant, let him avoid his face. إذا ضرب أحدكم خادمه فليجتنب الوجه
Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 174

He strikes him wherever he may, but he does not strike him in the face, in honor of this face which is in the likeness of Adam's face, and Allah (Mighty and Majestic) has honored it above all else He has created, for the sake of this face.
