How do we reconcile the hadith: “Whoever goes to a diviner or a fortune-teller and believes what he says has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him),” with the narration: “...his prayer will not be accepted for forty days”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We reconcile this narration with the other narration:
his Salah will not be accepted for 40 days لم تقبل له صلاة أربعين يوماً
Sunan an-Nasa'i 5669Da'if (Darussalam)
?

The Shaykh : What is the contradiction between the two narrations? If you assume his statement:
then he has disbelieved in what was revealed to Muhammad. فقد كفر بما أنزل على محمد
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 135Hasan (Darussalam)
that it is a disbelief of the heart, then the objection or difficulty regarding the hadith does not arise, because the hadith explicitly states that it does not result in disbelief. In that case, it is understood to be a practical disbelief, not a creedal disbelief. Thus, there is no contradiction. Is that clear?
As for one whose disbelief is creedal, the hadith is not addressed to him; rather, it is addressed to one whose disbelief is practical. Is that clear?
